Moved by the crises in countries such as Syria, The Starfish Refugee Project has begun investigating local sponsorship of two refugee families. Comprised of residents and groups in the Chester area from East River to Western Shore, the plan is to raise at least $40,000 to begin the sponsorship process. $11,000 has already been raised.
The public gathering on Monday aims to inform and inspire. It is not enough to simply raise money. It takes a passionate, committed community to help make this a successful sponsorship. The organizers hope for a large turnout, where the story behind the "Starfish" name will be revealed.

"I once had a leather jacket that got ruined in the rain. Why does moisture ruin leather? Aren't cows outside a lot of the time? When it's raining, do cows go up to the farmhouse, 'Let us in! We're all wearing leather! Open the door! We're going to ruin the whole outfit here!'"   Jerry Seinfeld

A Polish immigrant went to the registry to apply for a driver's license.
First, of course, he had to take an eye sight test.
The optician showed him a card with the letters.  On the bottom row were these letters:
C Z W I N O S T A C Z
"Can you read this?" the optician asked.
"Read it? I know the fellow."

Six Irishmen were playing poker when Sean O'Toole lost €700 on a single hand, clutched his chest and dropped dead at the table.

Showing respect for their fallen brother, the other five continue playing standing up. Michael Lennon looks around and asks, 'Oh, me boys, someone's got to tell Sean's wife. Who will it be?'

They draw straws. Bill Oleary picks the short one. They tell him to be discreet and gentle and not to make a bad situation any worse.

He goes over to O'Toole's house and knocks on the door.
Brenda O'Toole answers and asks what he wants. Bill declares: 'Your husband just lost €700 and is afraid to come home.'

'Tell him to drop dead!' snarls Brenda.
'I'll go tell him.' says Bill.
