 Last Friday's "George Love In"  at the Chester   Playhouse was a lot of fun and a huge success.

This Week in Chester 

Tanner Brewing Company is now open for business !!
They are located at 59 Duke Street and are open Wednesday through Sunday from 12-9pm. (Now!)
Get over there and welcome them to the 'hood and try ALL the flavours !


This is the Rope Loft's last week of the season!
Tonight, Wednesday, is the seafood bake,Thursday night  is wing night and Friday night is prime rib.
"Last Call" live music is this Friday - open mic with various artists. Bring your guitars, pop in and celebrate with Derek, Elaine and all the staff.


 
The Chester Art Centre is hosting an opening reception with wine and cheese this Friday November 1st from 6pm - 8pm to introduce their artist in residence Marley Johnson. All are invited.

The annual Christmas craft season kicks off this Saturday. First out of the gate is at the Chester Legion from 10 am - 3:00 pm. Table rentals $25. This Week in Chester 

Friday evening join Jamie Junger and friends at the fundraiser for George Evans at the Chester Playhouse. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show starts at 7:30pm.
Hors d'oeuvres... please bring nibbles to share.
Darren Arsenault will join in the event and there are a few other surprises in store for you.
Malcolm Callaway is hosting the evening. Malcolm is also donating a one of his paintings to raffle off. There will be a silent auction and a 50/50 draw as well.
Hallowe'en costumes are encouraged if you are so inclined. Tickets are $25

Heads up - The Rope Loft will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, for filming.

Friday Night there is prime rib on the menu and there will be live music with Kevin and Pam starting at 8 pm. Flashback to the 70's. Dig deep in your closet and dress up retro or funky!




This Saturday is the last day for the Hearth & Homes Tours with Salty Sea Dog charters. Tickets may be purchased online  here  or at the Rope Loft.
Next Sunday, November 3rd is the final day before they close for the season so stop in and get your final chowder fix.


This Saturday the Chester Curling Club is hosting their 50th Anniversary Open House from 1-4 pm.  Stop in to help them celebrate and give curling a try for free ! info@chestercurlingclub.ca

Saturday evening you are in for a special treat at the Chester Playhouse. Get your garters on because cult favourite Rocky Horror is being screened at 7:30. All attendees are invited to participate but must be mindful of the Playhouse itself and staff: no rice or confetti and nothing sticky or you will be cleaning it up.



                                                                




Next Tuesday there will be a Halloween Party at the Lightfoot Tower at 63 Regent Street from 6:30 - 8 pm.  Rain date:  Wednesday, October 30th.  Wear your costume and enjoy spooky Halloween fun. Boo ! Hosted by the Municipality of Chester.

There are road works afoot in the hamlet. Your tax dollars are hard at work paving Route 3.This will be ongoing for the foreseeable future. Keep a book on hand, turn off the car and enjoy the few, or several, minutes of forced down time.

This Week in Chester 

Friday night the Rope Loft has house favourite Kevin Koloff on stage at 8 pm. Tunes that make you wish you were back in that era again. Kevin and Pam always put on a great show - there WILL be dancing !




There is also an Oktoberfest dinner at St. Stephen's Community Centre, 54 Regent Street starting at 6 pm Friday evening.  The meal features sausages, sauerkraut, German style potato salad and dessert. Adults $20 and Children (10 & under) $10. Beer and wine is available. Tickets at St. Stephen's parish office 902-275-3804.

This Saturday the Rope Loft is offering Hearth & Homes Tours with Salty Sea Dog charters.  Set sail from the Rope Loft dock for a 1 hour tour of Chester's harbours. Afterwards, warm up with a two course dinner by the fireplace at the Rope Loft. Tickets may be purchased online  here  or at the Rope Loft.

Friday night the Rope Loft has Jamie Junger on stage at 8 pm. Jamie is a village favourite, so get there early to ensure a seat and order up a serving of prime rib with all the trimmings.
They are celebrating all things gourd with pumpkin cheesecake and curried pumpkin soup for the month of October.

You are in for a double bill / double thrill treat at the Chester Playhouse this Saturday.
As a nod to who's in town, we are featuring Sigourney Weaver and Kevin Kline.

At 2 pm they are screening "The Year of Living Dangerously." This 1982 Australian romantic drama film directed by Peter Weir is about a love affair set in Indonesia during the overthrow of President Sukarno. It follows a group of foreign correspondents in Jakarta on the eve of an attempted coup.
The film stars Mel Gibson as Australian journalist Guy Hamilton, and Sigourney Weaver as British Embassy officer Jill Bryant. It also stars Linda Hunt as the male dwarf Billy Kwan, Hamilton's local photographer contact, a role for which Hunt won the 1983 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.The film was shot in both Australia and the Philippines.

"The Big Chill," is a 1983 American comedy-drama film directed by Lawrence Kasdan, starring Kevin Kline, Tom Berenger, Glenn Close, Jeff Goldblum, William Hurt,Mary Kay Place, Meg Tilly, and JoBeth Williams. The plot focuses on a group of baby boomers who attended the University of Michigan, reuniting after 15 years when their friend Alex commits suicide. It was filmed in Beaufort, South Carolina and the soundtrack features soul, R&B, and pop-rock music from the 60s and 70s, including tracks by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Rolling Stones, and Three Dog Night. All the songs you know by heart !

 the first artist from the Who's Who in International Art to show at Amicus Gallery.

 This is also the last show of the season and Paula MacDonald's final show with Amicus Gallery.

The Rope Loft and Salty Dog Sea Tours are partnering to hold "Hearth & Homes" boat tours every Saturday in October. Take a one hour tour of Chester's Harbour by boat, then enjoy a two course meal at the Rope Loft. Book a night at the Mecklenburgh Inn and make it a weekend getaway! Saturday evening at 7:30pm the Chester Playhouse presents "Caribou Run"  a six - piece neofolk band based in Mahone Bay. Their songs are catchy and anthemic with lyrics that provoke emotion and thought. Their live performance is a dynamic experience that is a roller coaster of sing alongs and foot stomps.
