Greetings!



Today is the first day of autumn.
Summer. Officially over.

Onward.

 
The Chester Art Centre is showcasing hooked rugs from Big Tancook Island. Hetty Van Gurp is a rug hooker, teacher and writer who lives on the island. Hetty was born in Holland and immigrated to Canada in with her family in 1953 at the age of three. She has received several awards including the Order of Nova Scotia and a Doctorate of Civil Law from Saint Mary’s University. Hetty still teaches part-time at the Big Tancook Elementary School – one of the last one-room schools in Canada with a current enrollment of 8.
Celebrate fall at the Rope Loft with Nine Locks Harvest Pumpkin, Bulwark Cider, and year round favourites from Chester’s own Tanner & Co. Brewing.

New on Thursday’s: Join us for Seafood Bake (lunch time exclusive) and Peel n’ Eat Shrimp Night (starting at 5 pm).

The Rope Loft will be temporarily closed on a October 18, 19 & 20th.

The deck is still open, but it’s slowly getting cooler. Bring a sweater or blanket just in case.
White Gate Restaurant is showin’ the love this Saturday, September 25th, from 1– 5pm. This is BooBoo’s Southern Secret BBQ last pop up of the 2021 season. BooBoo’s signature combo’s will be available as well as the popular ‘build your own’ feature, for either pre-order or walk up on the day. Come for the ribs and stay for the love!!

Next Tuesday, September 28th, the Chester Playhouse presents “In Conversation with author Donna Morrissey”. You are invited to join award-winning author Donna Morrissey in conversation with Liz Crocker discussing her new memoir "Pluck". This event is at 7pm at the Chester Baptist Church. Tickets are $10 each,

Saturday, October 2nd the Chester Playhouse presents “Twin Flames” live in concert. Multi-award winning Indigenous folk artists Twin Flames bring their incredible live show to the Chester Legion at 7:30 pm. Using unique sounds, Indigenous Spirit flutes, traditional drums and western instruments with synthesizing harmonies, you will be entranced from the first note.
Tickets are $34 per person, reserved seating available online.
