Tuesday night’s Picnic in the Park is on tonight, Wednesday, from 6-8pm.
Jamie and the Jungernauts are on stage at Lordly Park.
Free admission - donations for the band appreciated.

Flinn Market Linen on Pleasant Street is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10-4 pm. Linen and cashmere for the soul. Ahhhh.

Tomorrow, Thursday, is the Chester Garden Club Flower Show “Sunflowers To Buttercups” at the Chester Legion at 14 Union Street from 2 - 4 pm. Stop by to see who gets the blue ribbon ! Free admission. Donations appreciated.

The Chester Farmers and Artisans market is on Friday at the Old Railway Station, from 9 am - 12:30 pm. Rain or Shine. Local fresh produce, meat and fish, artisan baking, tasty meals, flowers and plants, handmade crafts, jewelry, and treats.
The Chester Playhouse continues their “Playhouse without Walls “ summer series.
Join them for their first summer theatre offering “COARSE” by Sarah Deller and the Villain’s Theatre. It plays this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Chester Legion.
They are offering a promo code “Chester” which is redeemable for two free tickets /person for this production….1845, Yorkshire: When three ambitious sisters struggle against the lives expected of them, they write some of the strangest and most successful novels of the 19th century. Join us on a whirlwind journey into the minds of the Brontë Sisters! At times hilarious and moving, blending physical theatre, and real writing from the lives and writings of Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë, this is an inspiring, moving and exciting story of courage, sisterhood, and pursuing your dreams.

The show runs approximately 75 minutes.

The Captain’s House Gallery at 33 Central Street is having an open house this Saturday until August 13th showcasing several talents.
Gwen Dueck is exhibiting her abstract paintings. Come meet Gwen this Saturday from 2-4 pm.
Deborah Toogood is having a book launch and signing on from 2-4pm. ”Wild Ghost Chase" is the sequel to "Chasing the Phantom Ship.” It is a middle grade reader, ideal for ages 8-12.
Joan Doherty is showing her painted floorcloths as well.
Artist Carol Hansen is exhibiting her “Shoreline Paintings” too.
The gallery is open from 11am -4 pm daily.
This Saturday is the Teddy Bear’s Picnic at Lordly Park from 11am to 2 pm. All ages welcome. Short ones must be accompanied by an adult. Bring along your favourite teddy and join the summer Rec team for a cupcake walk, fun lawn games, face painting, balloon animals and more! Hot-dogs and hamburgers will be for sale but feel free to bring your own picnic and blanket for you and teddy to sit on! This event is free, but are accepting donations to PRO Kids at the entrance.
The Chester Brass Band is performing at 7 pm at the bandstand by the Yacht Club. Get there early to assure yourself front row seating on the grass.

It’s Canada Day weekend !
Take a moment to remind yourself what this country is to you.
When you are having a bad day and are pissed off with the world…remember where you live. How lucky are we to live here ! Freedom and democracy.
Canada IS the best country in the world !
This is our weekend to celebrate Canada !
The Rope Loft is open all weekend for your dining pleasure. Where better to be on the long weekend but by the sea. This Canada Day weekend they are featuring Arctic char, candied tropical fish cakes, scallop burger and peanut butter cheesecake mousse.


The Heritage Society is having a Canada Day Garden Party at the Chester Train Station (20 Smith Road) from 4 -8 pm tomorrow. There will be ice cream, fish & chip fry booth, frozen freezie group, pick a prize egg group, golf chipping game, bean bag toss, sucker pull and a whipped topping in the face throw :)



Saturday is the Chester Community Market at the Chester Legion (14 Union Street) from 10- 2:pm. New community market featuring local entrepreneurs providing a great selection of items. Visitors will be greeted by wonderful arts and crafts, knits & quilts, jewelry & bath items, candles & comic books, kid's clothes & sail bags, Watkins & Epicure, baked goods & sweet/savoury treats, .... and so much more.

The Chester Playhouse invites you to celebrate July 4th with Movie Monday! Join us under the stars at Lordly Park for some of your favourite blockbuster films, projected on a giant 30-foot screen! 
 
We start the summer off July 4th with, appropriately, “Independence Day”, with some of the most memorable destruction of beloved landmarks, as well as one of the most exciting speeches, ever put on film! 





The Chester Tennis Club Summer Junior Tennis Program starts next Monday and runs every weekday from 10 - 11 am and 11 am - 12:00 pm, dependent on age and ability. Cost $50 per week, all ages. You can register here.

It's Father's Day this Sunday.

This Thursday to Saturday is the “Annual Yard Sale” at the Chester United Baptist Church at 84 King Street from 9am - 2 pm. Lots of items to choose from including books, dishes, pictures and more. Restock the bookshelf !
Blue Shutters Gallery and Antiques located at the entrance to Graves Island is now open for the season. Wednesday- Sunday from 10-4pm
Showcasing the new artwork of Adriane Jacquard, Dolly Hancock and Bobby Young. Other rooms full of furniture, antiques and curios and collectibles.
You don’t know what you need until you see it. Treasures abound !

With a voice that calls to mind the great Sam Cooke and a songwriting talent all on his own, the Chester Playhouse presents Owen "O'Sound" Lee.
Musician, songwriter, vocal arranger, and producer extraordinaire! Owen has roots in gospel, training in jazz, and now blends elements of these with R&B and Hip Hop. He has collaborated with such artists as Mariah Carey, Jordin Sparks, Drake, Jully Black, and Kardinall Offishall, and served as Musical Director of the Nova Scotia Mass Choir for 5 years. Performing with his 5-piece band, the Playhouse is thrilled to welcome this rising star to Chester!

Saturday night head down to the Chester Yacht Club for reggae and blues - live music and dancing. Celebrate the life of Chester resident Sherry Wheatley and help raise money for cancer research. Local musicians are donating their talents, and a DJ with plenty of favourite dancing tunes. Doors open 6 pm; barbecue, prize draws, cash bar.

The Chester Bandstand Summer Concert series kicks off next Sunday, June 26th from 7 - 8:30 pm weather permitting.
The Sackville Community Band will be on stage that opening night.
Donations are appreciated by the volunteer bands to cover costs. Bring chairs and blankets and maybe an armband flask.
